Today I’m sharing with you guys what I’ve been up to this month and I already can’t believe it’s half way over. While time is going by so fast, I feel like I don’t even know what season we’re in as it’s been 55-60º all weekend long here in Chicago. Summer, is that you?
It’s making me want to constantly be outside, walking through the city and drinking copious amounts of iced almond milk lattes (basically what I did yesterday).
I spent a ton of time this weekend enjoying the weather, relaxing and hanging with friends in between spin classes, yoga and work. Every weekend that passes I am constantly planning something, going somewhere, having an event or traveling. While it can get pretty tiring, I LOVE it so freaking much.
In only TWO more weeks, I’ll be headed to Los Angeles to spend the week with my favorite food+wellness bloggers and I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a trip in my life. Naturally I’ll be heading out with May (she’s my go-to travel buddy) and I can’t wait for all of the fun we’re going to get into. Fun meaning hiking, Y7 hip hop yoga flows and tacos.
But while I wait for my huge 2017 trip, I’ve been having so much fun here in Chicago.
Some of you may or may not know but as of this year, I’ll be working a bit more with Nike being apart of their influencer team and I’m truly beyond blessed to have this opportunity. I first worked with Nike last summer and as a still-in-college blogger, I freaked OUT. I still freak out. Through the year, the Nike Chicago team will be putting together fun hang outs, workouts and events and these badasses above me are a few of the gems who are apart of the team with me.
The first weekend of February we did a SoulCycle ride led by Naz, a SoulCycle Chicago instructor and Nike influencer. She KILLED it. If you guys know me, you’ll know remixes and hip hop music in spin classes give me life and her class basically met those conditions. If you live in Chicago – take her class!
Last weekend, I was beaming from ear to ear with happiness because two of my best friends from high school (who live in Ohio) came to visit me Friday night through Sunday morning. My best friend Lylah Wolff (to the left) is a portrait photographer so on Saturday we explored the city, heading to my favorite spot C.C. Ferns (best coffee in Chicago, in my opinion), the West Loop and rented out a room through Breather. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for portraits AND check her out because her photos are insane.
I can’t wait to show you guys more from the shoot!
As for fun happenings this past week, I was crazy busy with school. Thank God I only have 3 months left until I graduate because some days I think my mind is going to explode. Anyone else feel me on this?
Luckily, Thursday nights are kind of like Fridays to me in the sense I have no class Friday and I only work for 4 hours, head to Studio Three for a workout and then go home to relax. I was fortunate enough to get two free tickets from my friend Courtney to see Tove Lo perform at the House of Blues Thursday night so Gina (my roommate) and I went. It was tons of fun and afterwards, we ran into an Instagram follower of mine whose guy friends screamed “CHICKPEA IN THE CITY!” at me and then said they recognized Gina from my Snapchats. It was pretty funny.
As for my favorites eats/drinks this week, I tried a new product I 10/10 recommend to you guys, especially if you are looking for a healthier bagel alternative and/or are paleo – Bedrock Bakers‘ pagels. Unlike other paleo bagel alternative they aren’t made with eggs and coconut flour so they aren’t as super filling and dense.
The ingredients are simple and REAL: water, cassava flour, almond flour, potato starch, honey, apple cider vinegar, yeast, sea salt.
They aren’t super tiny but aren’t super thick so they remind me of mini bagels somewhat. The flavors include everything, sesame, plain, sunflower, poppyseed, caraway and cinnamon raisin. Their website also carries cookies and mini muffins that are SO DELICIOUS. I want everything.
Yesterday I spent the day with May and we headed to Goddess and The Baker after an 8:30a.m. SoulCycle ride in the Loop. It was the most perfect day in the city that we ended up taking our almond milk lattes to go, walking across the river and into Old Town. One of my favorite parts about this weather is that you truly can just walk and walk for miles without even knowing it because you’re just so happy to be out and about.
We did a little photo shoot in Old Town during the afternoon to promote our “GRL PWR Ride” at Studio Three next Sunday (2/26) which we are SO PUMPED about and then headed to our favorite spot… True Food Kitchen. Duh.
You guys I kid you not, this is my go-to restaurant in the city because their ingredients and dishes are just so spot on. We shared the cauliflower appetizer (our favorite) and grass-fed beef burger, no cheese, mayo on the side. Heaven!
P.s. I hope to see some of you guys next Sunday at Studio Three for May and I’s co-curated playlist spin ride. Aloha Poké Co will be there sooo.. you know it’s going to be a good time.
Happy Sunday!
