If anything, this year has truly taught me the less makeup the better. My 6 skincare must-haves for summer days have been keeping me mentally sane and my skin looking rather clear. A year ago, you would have never caught me in the summer makeup free. Whether it’s the fact we’re in a pandemic or I lost interest, I feel much better this year. Letting my skin breathe most days is crucial to me when it comes to hot and humid summer days. The list below includes what I’ve been using the last few weeks from my cleanser to essential oils. Everyone has different skin whether it be dry, combination or oily so not every product might work for you. However, as someone with dry/combo skin, these are my go-tos.
One more thing! I make commission off of all of the brands below but they are products I fully support and adore. Without these brands, this blog wouldn’t be possible so thank you for reading or purchasing my favorites.
Skincare For When You Want To: Be Out The Door in 5 Minutes
Use A Brightening Serum And Oil (No, it won’t make you breakout!)
Beautycounter Refresh Foaming Cleanser – Cleansers that don’t make your face dry, specifically in the summer, are the ones I need. This hits the nail on the head with that because of the phytic acid and plum oil. As you start to rub a dime-sized amount into your hands with a little water, it foams up. Due to the crazy humidity wave these last few weeks, I always wash my face with this post walk, too. If you have sensitive skin like me, too, this might be your best bet.
Beautycounter Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence – A magical product I implemented into my routine last year. Toners often help with oily skin, clogged pores and help your serums (which are the next step) sink in better. This one in particular is from Beautycounter’s anti-aging line and very hydrating. Most beauty products that are “anti-aging” usually cause retinol which can be damaging to the skin. Beautycounter opts for a more natural combination of Swiss Alpine rose and Bakuchiol to create a “Retinatural Complex”. Think of this as a safer alternative to retinol.
Beautycounter All Bright C Serum – You’ve probably heard me rave about this on Instagram but when it comes to glowing skin, this is the culprit. Two kinds of Vitamin C, camu camu (rich in Vitamin C) and turmeric for that yellow glow. No, it won’t make you yellow but it will give you that summer glow. I find that when my skin has a layer of this, I have no need for makeup.
P.s. it works for ALL skin types!
Cocokind Chia Facial Oil – If you combine this and the serum, your face will be glowy and dewy but in the best way possible. I’ve been a huge fan of Cocokind since college because of their affordability when it comes to natural skincare that WORKS. Many people raved about this before I tried it so I knew it must be good. This really gives the skin plenty of moisture so I don’t necessarily need any moisturizer on top of it.
Due to the rich source of omega-3s chia seed oil contains, this helps:
- Hydrate the skin
- Spport its natural barrier function
Cool, right?
Primally Pure Lavendar Deodorant – We must know by now how difficult it is to find a natural deodorant that doesn’t make us smell. Trust me, I’ve been through tons but none of them worked until I found Primally Pure. As an all natural skin and bodycare company, they make some of the best serums, hair care products and deodorant. They’re non-toxic, all natural, contain a minimal amount of baking soda and NO aluminum 🙂 In terms of scents, I go for the charcoal or lavender. Because it’s not an anti-perspirant so you WILL sweat (humans are meant to) but no smell here.
Use code “chickpea10” for a little discount when purchasing!
Meet Ned Hemp Oil Energize-Roll On – This might sound weird because I never thought I’d use “essential oils” as a perfume alternative but this is EVERYTHING. If you’re unfamiliar, I am a true fan of Ned hemp oil and their Hormone specific line is phenomenal for women. Whether you want to balance hormones naturally or just smell good, this line is for you. The roll-on contains lunar rose jojoba seed oil, 25mg of full spectrum hemp oil and a list of essentials oils:
- Lemon
- Orange
- Frankincense
- Bergamot
- Orange
- Ylang Ylang
- Clary sage
For best relief, I rub it on the insides of wrists, right by my neck and straight into my hands. When rubbed into my hands and breathed it, I feel an overwhelming sense of calm. But again, the smell is just OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Leaving the house with this on, I feel so refreshed and have found it to be my new favorite ritual.

Skincare For When You Want To:
Have slight coverage Without Caking It On
Second-skin moisturizer and foundations
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer – For minimal coverage, moisture, SPF 20, and a little glow, I love this in the color Fair. It also has a boost of Vitamin C which is great for summer days!
Skin Twin Foundation – I just recently purchased this after hearing how much better it was than the Tint Skin Foundation I already had. Due to the addition of hyaluronic acid, this product feels more like skincare than makeup. Since there are 18 different shades, at first I was hesitant on finding the right one but used the app’s shade matcher to do so. I ended up with Fair 150 which is similar to the Tint Skin Foundation in the shade porcelain. Right after applying the foundation, it sinks it almost right away and leaves no funky residue. If you’re like me and never want a face full of makeup, this is KEY.
If you guys ever have questions on what products I’m using, where you can find them or any other details, please let me know. This is what I do for a living, what I find the most joy in and want to give you the best information possible.
Additionally, if you’re a Beautycounter member (Band of Beauty) you get free shipping on orders over $100 or more, 10% product credit back and a gift when you sign up (really worth the $29/year). Essentially the membership is Amazon Prime yet even better.
